Nice Dual-Purpose Unit

I bought this unit to replace a similar GE product that was now 15 years old. I remove the old unit, and the new one fit nicely into the existing sleeve. GE has improved these units quite a bit in 15 years. The digital temperature control is an improvement, as is the remote control. The only problem we identified thus far is that the fan control is misleading. There is an "automatic" feature in which the fan runs only when the unit is heating or cooling. Then it has "low," "medium," and "high" settings for the fan speed. I thought this would allow the fan to run continually in one of those modes, but it still cycles on and off when the unit is heating or cooling. This causes changes in the ambient noise level, making it difficult to sleep soundly.

Extremely happy with my new GE unit

Our previous inwall GE air conditioner lasted us for 16 years, with no problems. The new unit has excellent up to date fixtures, and a remote control. This new unit is easy to use and very effective in cooling a hot South Carolina sun facing room. The only negative is the unit is somewhat noisy, this should be worked on by GE.

Perfect for my space

This built in AC is the perfect addition to my home office. Summers here can get very hot and humid so AC is a must. This through the wall unit works great to keep my small home office cool all day long. All in one A/C Cool, Fan, Sleep, remote, heater

Box was well padded to protect unit & also included an installation kit which made it easier to just use existing wall sleeve. Unit had the required wall sleeve # printed on sticker which I immediately called around to locate because my installers were coming soon. However, it was not needed & couldn't be used as outside wall was brick (condo) opening not allowed to be altered. So, I returned it, RAB 24. It takes two strong men to in stall it & haul away very old Unit, a Carrier, also made, I believe, by the same company that makes GE. I also just purchased a GE microwave 950 Watts which works just as as their 1000 Watt Oster unit that used to overheat. It is also just a little bit smaller, but just as powerful, if not more so. Also, it has really nice stainless steel trim with black glass, real classic look that's easy to clean as well. I hope it lasts longer than other CO.'s products which wasn't but a few months! Closest dimensions to my wall opening & great price! It states Energy efficient too! We'll see when we get the next few electric bills!

Super easy

This was our first though the wall unit and super surprised that it went so well my husband and I just brought a new property last year so we are in total repair as of now so it was a good thing to start to add new features as in fans or air conditioners. This installation was fairly easy because we just now are adding the walls and dry walls so my husband picked the perfect spot an added it right on into the molding. The remote was a great new addition because our older ones didn't have one and since it's sitting in the family room it's good to control the temperature from the couch instead of walking around and finding a chair to stand on to change it. It's definitely not loud it slid right into the sleeve. We enjoy it just in time for this 90 degree weather.

This is the Cadillac of air conditioners in my opinion. Love that it comes with the trim kit and you just install the sleeve and slide the unit right in. The bright white color is sleek, modern and fits with Hurst about any decor it looks stylish and it just fits in the room so nicely. Love that it has a remote, it has every saving modes, the clear easy to read LCD display, several different fan settings and directional irons on which way you want the air to go. It comes with an easy to clean reusable filter. It has a dry mode and ac or heat settings. It cools off our first level so fast and then it maintains that temp. Its just an awesome appliance and top of the line. Theres so many perks I could go on for awhile. Highly highly highly recommended.

This is a powerful AC! My house is not that big, but it does have some large open doorways so it was important for me to find an AC that could cool the whole area (since I could not close off rooms). I think this AC definitely meets that goal. This unit won't be for everyone since it is a wall unit (not a window unit), but that is actually kind of nice if you live on the ground floor where break-ins might be an issue. Installation is not too bad as long as you already have a wall cutout. If you don't, it would be much more involved.

I was very happy to get the GE AKEQ14DCH Air Conditioner for my home. This Air Conditioner is one that goes through the wall and needs a Wall Sleeve to support it within the wall. The AC is very powerful at 14,000 BTU's. The GE Air Conditioner is able to cool the entire first floor of my house within an hour on a hot day. The Air Conditioner is made by GE so you already know it's going to be a high quality product that's going to be the top of its class. The AC seems to be made of quality and the white matches the Wall Sleeve and the color of the inside and outside walls of my home very well! I would completely recommend this powerful, reliable Air Conditioner from GE to anyone that doesn't like to be hot in the summer!

Great Air Conditioner!

This GE Air Conditioner is amazing for its size. The 14,000 BTU is enough to cool a medium-sized room. I originally had the window pads for use with this air conditioner unit. The unit is pretty hefty for its size and the white color gives it a modern decor. The options are simple to use and the interface is on par with more advanced air conditioner units. I think the vents on this unit are ample enough and the unit pushes out enough cool air. One must make sure to have the air exhaust piping lining attached to the unit. The unit works as advertised and I can't make any faults for it. Overall, the unit works as intended and I am pretty satisfied with the product! A must for our cottage!

An air conditioner was the first thing on our wish list when we purchased our new cottage up north. We were very pleased with the fact that this unit not only cools but it also heats which is perfect for those cooler spring and fall nights. It was really easy to install and we got it started up and working fairly quickly. All of the controls are easy to read and understand and the display is very helpful. We aren't fans of humidity so we are eager to try the dry mode as the wet humid weather starts.

Nice AC Unit for comfortable living!

I got this installed couple weeks ago and have been enjoying it a lot especially due to hot weather lately. My handyman installed the unit within a couple of hours so all the accessories and kits were included. I really like the design of this unit and it makes the room look quite modern. The touch controls and the remote are quite user friendly and makes it easy to change the temperature. The unit is much quieter than my previous one. I really like that it function as dehumidifier with the dry air mode. I tried the heat mode for a bit and like the instant switch. So definitely set for colder weather as well. Highly recommended if you are search for all in one AC unit!

I don't exactly live wall air conditioners but this unit could help me change my mind. It is lighter than many comparable units I have had for that many BTUs. It installed rather easily, fit right into it's casing. It runs extremely quiet also. My main complaint about wall units is the noise and this one runs rather quiet. I would recommend it.

The GE built in air conditioner (with heat) was a breeze to install in our pool house with bar. The hot summers are a dread and usually everyone flocks inside during the dead heat of the summer. The unit comes with so many features including the trim kit to finish off the install, large LCD display which gives us the ability to adjust from across the room with the remote, a dry mode to dehumidify the room, three fan speeds, six way directional flow, washable filter (which will save us a lot of money in the long run), Auto mode which allows us to choose one temp and it adjusts heat or air to meet the needs we selected and the best feature (for us) was the sleep mode which is a huge energy saver for us. We will be able to use our bar longer in the fall months with the heat mode (which we have never done before)! I was very surprised the install was as easy as it was with a built in. We love it!
