I bought this to replace a slightly smaller GE unit that went bad after a couple of months. Like the one it replaced, it really doesn't heat or cool the space adequately. GE offered a voucher for it or I would probably not have purchased another GE unit. I sent in my voucher a couple of weeks ago for reimbursement. Hopefully they'll send the check. Make sure that you buy a warranty, wherever you buy yours, so that you can return it when it goes bad. When I call to check on payment, they talk to me like I'm really bothering them.

The Exhaust Fan Was Hitting Wall Inside The Unit When I First Got It And Hooked It Up !!! After Running It For Two Weeks, And Working On The Fan It Is Now Doing OK !!! This Air Conditioner Runs Good And Was Easy To Install !!! The GE Folks Needs To Make More Room Inside The Unit For The Exhaust Fan To Run, And The Fan Blades Don't Run Strait Blades Are Out Of Balance !!! That Is The Only Problem With My Unit Put I Fixed The One I Have, And It Runs Great Now !!! GE Factor Real Needs To Take Care Of This Issue And This Will Be A Great Unit For A Add On Air And Heat Unit !!! I Use It In my 40'X15' Room Upstairs And It Works Great !!! Totally Disappointed! :(

I bought the unit on July 17, 2021. I did research for over a week in hopes of finding a product that would meet my expectations. After looking at over 100 different brands and models, I decided on the Model #APXD10JAWBW1, Serial #DS0011210, GE 10,500 BTU Smart Heat/Cold Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifier and Remote in Black. On September 9th the FL error message came on. It was a message which represented the need to drain the tank because it was full from water condensation. This is the first time I have had to drain the tank since the purchase date. After draining the tank, I reset the unit and turned the AC on to 75 degrees. The unit worked for about 2 hours and the FL error message came back on. I repeated the previous steps 5 more times and realized it was futile and that there was probably an eternal issue. Water would not drain out of the lower drain plug, but when unit was tilted, t would drain out of the upper drain plug. I'm mechanically inclined enough to interpret the issue as probably a float problem. Due to being within warranty, I decided not to tear the unit apart and fix it myself. I now have to go throught the hassle of replacing this AC unit. Oh well...you win some...you lose some. I do live in Arizona and there usually is minmal requirement for draining the tank due to lack of humidity. It was an awesome unit up until it quit working. It did it's job well.

Catastrophic failure in 6 weeks

Before this weekend I was fairly happy with this unit. I've owned a good number of portables in my day and this one by far as the highest volume of cooling I've ever owned. Up to about 105F outside it keeps it around 20F cooler inside. If you live where it gets to like 115-120F outside then maybe you'll need two. It lasted long enough to get me through this disgusting heat wave but it's blown itself apart due to manufacturing shenanigans. The bottom blower fan module blew apart inside causing a catastrophic failure. Looking inside i can see that from the factory this blower fan was previously repaired , the evidence being rubbery glue in an attempt to repair a crack. The glue failed and the fan blew apart inside. GE usually makes quality stuff so I imagine this is related to parts shortages and trying to get as my units out as possible. So I don't know if I should return this for a refund and buy one next year of hopefully better quality. Or exchange it in hopes of getting a unit that hasn't had repair work done on it before shoving it out the door. Also if you wanted the dual hose setup, good luck, the RAP02 hose kit has not been available the whole time I've had my a/c unit. They state manufacturing problems as the cause. SO don't count on a dual hose setup for summer 2021 anyway,. I'm not mad GE... I'm just disappointed.

I have been without an a/c for the past 2 yrs as my central's compression died & was too expensive to fix & living in Texas during the summer is hard enough but without any ac it's impossible & I couldn't go another summer without it, so I was shopping online at Walmart & saw this ac/heater/dehumidifier & the price was reasonable, so I purchased it. It was easy to install. I live in a small ranch so there's not a lot to space & it cooled off my living room & kitchen & a bedroom by the next day to a very comfortable temperature & both my 4 cats & I r very happy.

This Portable AC, is the best one I have ever tried, I live in a townhouse and it actually cools the whole downstairs on the low setting, and the dehumidifier works excellent also. I am very pleased and will continue to buy GE products as they are always high quality. The only issue I had was while removing the protective tape from the silver trim around the top some of the trim paint came off with the tap, just a minor cosmetic issue, no big problem.

A bit loud but it does the job

The product is great so far, cools down a garage pretty fast and keeps it cool, it will make your might flicker if you have them on the same circuit but that is normal with something of this much power. I also had some trouble with the internet syncing but ill give them a pass because of the location of the AC to my router.

Totally a disappointment

Bought it brand new. Plugged it in, and there's no AC coming out. Regardless of how much I tried to set it up as per Manufacturer recommendation. So, no cold air as they promised. Also, it runs very loud and sakes like a freight train. Overall, a huge frustration and disappointment. However, I might got a defective unit but still, I would never buy anything from GE ever again.

One Flaw

The unit works great and is easy to use. The one flaw is the exhaust hose is difficult to assemble and does not want to stay connected to the adapters. I had to use duct tape to hold the hose on the adapters at both ends.Would explain flaw when recommending.

Best Portable i've Used

Have a 400sqf space and it's 105-110F outside, keeps inside approx 20F cooler than outside. This puts out a lot more air than my other brand '14,000btu' portable does and it actually able to cool my living space off so generally i'm happy with its cooling ability as we don't usually get into the 100F temps outside and it does a solid job at or under 100F. For non-ashrae btu rating, this is the biggest portable I could find. As i mentioned my older other brand 14,000btu ashrae A/c it only is 8000btu's non-ashraie so this GE being 10,500 non-ashrae BTU is a significant upgrade and i can tell you it made a huge difference in my 400sqf living space. Also bought this b/c it has a dual hose option kit you can buy however i've yet to be able to order that from anywhere online. All I have found are angry customers looking for this kit. Running as a single hose system it creates a significant amount of negative pressure which draws in warm outside air through every crack, gap and vent. I think it would do better if i could hook up a 2nd hose and eliminate that negative pressure effect. I'm also happy that it is both a heater and a cooler. I live in a small place and having one unit be able to do double duty saves floor space. Thinking about buying a 2nd one for the bedroom, maybe a smaller version of it i'm that pleased with the 14,000btu one.

This unit met all my expectations except for the exhaust hose. The hose could be longer and it is difficult to install and difficult to keep attached if you expect to move the unit at all. The exhaust hose system is poorly designed and not well thought out.

We wanted this unit for 2 reasons. 1. To hook up to our generator when the Florida storms come and cut out our electricity, and 2. To cool our bedroom down at night. The unit has done a fine job with cooling our bedroom. No use wasting electricity to cool the whole house when this unit will do the job. The unit is sleek and modern looking. I love the black color as most portables are white. The Auto Swing Louver is cool and hubby loves the option of either using the internal drain tank or continuous drain. The remote control is perfect and even better is the fact that this unit is wifi enabled so I can change the temperature from my smartphone even when away from the house. The unit is pretty quiet too which was surprising. All in all we are very pleased. A+

I am so impressed with my GE SMART 10,500 btu portable air conditioner/heater/dehumidifier! It even comes with a remote control and batteries. This unit is extremely easy to set up. In under 30 minutes, I set it up on my own with no issues. Everything is included and nicely packed in the box. There's an exhaust hose, exhaust nozzle, window brackets and window panels. All the screws for the window panels and brackets are also included. This unit sits on four rolling casters for easy portability. Some units also have SmartHQ capabilities. WiFi set up is explained in the instruction manual. Now for all the features. The control panel display clearly shows buttons for POWER, MODE, FAN, TIMER/TEMPERATURE, TIMER (WiFi), SLEEP and AUTO SWING. The MODE button is for cool, heat and dry (dehumidifier). The FAN can be adjusted from low to high. The TIMER/TEMPERATURE control is for temperature or time delays. The TIMER button is to program from 1 hour to 24 hours for the unit to turn on or off. Also to turn on and off the WiFi feature. The remote control has buttons that relate to the unit and is very simple to operate. I love that I can easily dismantle the window panels and move my unit to another area. Unlike a window unit this unit can be rolled into any room in my home as well as to our shed. I can now work inside our shed when it's Summer and feel comfortably cool. By far the BEST appliance in my home!

I just installed this unit in my 400 square foot garage. It's late May in Texas, and the GE cools it down really well! I spend a lot of time relaxing in the garage, and I think I'm really going to like this product, even more so because of the heater than the cooling function. I like a lot of the little features about this unit too. The temp gauge is accurate and turns off at the desired temperature. The swinging door is nice, and I appreciate the portability. I have it set up so I can move it 3 feet from side to side and point it in different directions. Gave it 4 stars for installation, but only because I had to do some extra work cutting a hole for the exhaust pipe in my garage wall. I haven't used it all that much so far, but I think I'll be spending more relaxing in my garage now that I have it.

Modern looking ac but missing coating on trim.

I was looking for a sleek modern ac unit to help offset the use of my HVAC and this fits the bill! It fits in the kitchen and is pretty minimal on the sound. The biggest bummer was when I pulled off the packaging the silver trim coating pulled off all over the unit. It looks a little used now before even using it. Install was easy and didn't take much time. Overall this will be a great benefit in our kitchen in the hot Texas summers.

I got the Ge-APXD10JAWB it works great, fits where it goes just perfect! It is big and powerful keeps most rooms very comfortable and I like the color of it! I like the level of cool the rooms are with this Air Conditioner! It's very easy to use and directions are simple!

Cools great

So let me start with the cons first to get them out of the way - The unit is pretty heavy and is pretty large as well. It is pretty noisy. Using the dehumidifier, I feel like it needs to be emptied quite a lot. Now for the positives - The unit cools great! The setup was super easy. The unit can be moved from room to room when needed. It comes with a remote which is fantastic! Overall its got its negatives but I think the pros outweigh them for it cooling power as well as it being portable!

Great Features

I have a hunting cabin that has no central AC unit. So, I ended up getting the GE 10,500 BTU portable unit. It is the perfect appliance. Easy to set up, great quality, and reasonably priced. It keeps the cabin cool in the summer. It also will work as a heater, so I can't wait to see how it works in the cabin this winter. Fantastic product for a great price. I highly recommend this product.

This product was a super easy install in my window and works like an absolute charm. It cools one room amazingly and actually keeps my whole home super cool by having it installed on opposite end of the house away from the whole house conditioner. Although is it a little heavy and bulky it is easy to use with wheels and has a nice sleek design. Everything on it works perfectly and I am so happy that I own it.

Fantastic GE AC/Heater Unit

I could not be more satisfied with the GE- APXD10JAWB. The AC/ Heater unit is absolutely amazing. The unit was easy to install and works like a charm. Our shop area was cooled in no time. In Texas, we have high temperatures in the Summer and low temperatures in the Winter. This unit allows us to have access to work comfortably in our shop year round. It is a slick- looking, well -built unit. The unit is on castors which makes it easy to move around. I truly cannot say enough good things about the GE- APXD10JAWB.

Great features and super fast cooling

I was very happy with the product. It was super easy to install with very thorough instructions. It didn't take up a lot of room and cools a large amount of area. The color fit with my decor so it didn't stand out and it was pretty decently quiet. I'm super happy and pleased.

Great way to stay cool

This is a Great portable air conditioner its wifi compatible to. it comes with a Remote as well. Can cool rooms up to 450 square feet. Also can download an app and control your device from anywhere you are as long as the unit is connected to Wi-Fi . It has 3 fan speeds , it cools and dehumidifies too . Definitely worth the price tag to keep you or a li ed onecool during hot weather.

Works Great!!

I've had my GE Portable Room Air Conditioner for almost 3 weeks and it works great! It only took me around five minutes to get it set up and just a couple minutes more to set up the app. I love how convenient this air conditioner is. It's portable, so I can move it from room to room and easily put it away, when it's not in use. The app is really convenient too! I can control the power and temperature from my phone and I can turn it on while I'm away from home, to cool my house down. It also comes with it's own remote. This air conditioner is very powerful! Once I turn it on, i can immediately feel a difference in room temperature. In less than five minutes, it cools down my entire livingroom. It's not quiet by any means, but being quiet isn't its purpose. There are four different modes, cool, fan, dry and heat. I've tested out each mode and they all function properly, but with the temperature being in the 90's, I'm going to be enjoying the cool air mode.

This unit is amazing !! Not only is it an air conditioner, but also a heater and a dehumidifier all in one. This thing has power and it's solid. It works great at keeping the spare bedroom nice and cool. It has many features to make your experience at home comfortable. It was simple to put together and very easy to use. It even has wheels to easily transport it from room to room. I'm am so happy to have this air conditioner. This GE unit is incredible and works so well. This thing is the real deal.

Perfect for that mancave/attic

I have this in our room above the 2.5 car garage. This unit has no problem what so ever with keeping the entire room comfortably at the perfect temperature. Its not loud at all so when running it, there no need to turn the game system volume up because its a pretty quiet unit.

Cools quickly!

This GE portable AC unit is an excellent item that delivers cool air in a large or small space. This unit is able to cool a large open area consisting of a living room and dining room with foot ceilings plus a kitchen. Moving the unit to a bedroom at night, the room cooled 10 degrees in minutes. Set up was very easy, the hose and window insert plus some additional foam is included. The timer function is a nice feature. Very happy with this product and highly recommend!
