Compression Couplings Leak

My unit came with white plastic compression couplings that leak constantly unless they are in a specific position that I have to find by trial and error. Every time I change the filter the couplings are a challenge. I no longer trust these couplings not to leak under my sink.

Use the filter wrench

I got mine to stop leaking by tightening it up with the filter wrench available at Home Depot. Can't get it tight enough by hand only. I would have bought a different system if it wasn't the only single stage under sink filter available at Home Depot. Filter reduces flow rate, but not terribly so. It's tricky to find the right threaded fittings that work with this. I used brass 3/8 MIP x 3/8 compression fittings.

Defective Design

GE has designed a defective product the absolutely does not fit with the intended filter cartridges. Just like every other review of this awful product, the filter does not allow the housing to thread all the way shut. GE offers zero help on the phone. They just say "return to place of purchase" or "buy another filter to see if it fits." This is truly unbelievable and I will switch to using better reviewed filters from another company like 3M. Thank you for nothing but wasting consumers time.

I called for help the people seemed bothered by the questions.
The filters do not fit in the canisters. GE is aware of the issue but offered no solution other than to keep returning it until I find one that fits... I don't think so.

poorly made product filters do not fit

Wish i had read the reviews before purchasing, at least i did not have leaks as i could not get to fit properly before it even got under the sink. going back to the store and will start again. usually read reviews but was in the "big box store" and saw the product. made a decision based on the GE name. Big mistake, not even a little off on the fit, not even close, there is no way to compress the o ring.

A ton of people say filter is too long and outer o ring won't seal. All get told to call a number where they don't answer cos they're closed. How about answering the core problem on here ant tell us why the system doesn't work?

I bought a new unit, since my old one failed. This unit calls for the same filter FXUTC. The filter fits my old unit. but is too long for the new unit. I called the1800 number and they told me to come here. There is no way the FXUTC can fit both units

I too had this filter for 7 years and all of a sudden it starts leaking when i had to go and change the filter itself... I went to homedepot purchased the same exact system and still it leaked water. By far this is the worst product ever.

Other than flow rate, I really have no complaints.

Other than the reduced flow rate, I really have no problems with this filter. I have been using the the best filter which is the FXUVC and it does kill the flow rate. But I'd rather have thoroughly filtered water. My fridge came without a built in filter so I hung one of these in my basement to supply it. If I ever make a little mess changing the filter, I'd rather it be in my basement rather than my kitchen. Since it's only supplying my icemaker and occasionally filling a glass, the flow rate doesn't bother me. If I really want to increase flow rate, I've even thought about installing 2 or 3 units in parallel. More cost for filters, but the flow rate would double or triple.

Brand new install, even installed a pressure reducer because I did not know how much water pressure is in my lines. Water leaks out of the filter canister at any water pressure level.

This product does not belong on the shelves. Leaks at the O-ring like others said no matter how hard I tried to tighten it. Flow was measured at .5 gallons/min.! I cant believe how much time i wasted on this. The one time i didnt read the reviews before purchase!

Installed it ... and it leaks around the o-ring. New product, new filter ... and GE was no help from customer support. Have been back to Home Depot twice. Horrible experience all the way around. Buy at your own risk
